Juvenile-In-Justice Founder Richard Ross. Richard will discuss his comprehensive decade-long documentary project from (35) states illuminating issues affecting young people who are caught up in the justice system and share how this work is being used to advocate for alternatives to incarceration. Richard’s work has been published in CNN, Slate, Wired, NPR, PBS Newshour, ProPublica, and Harper’s Magazine. It has also been exhibited in the rotunda of the U.S. Capital building in Washington, D.C. After forty years of teaching at the University of California Santa Barbara, Richard recently retired and became a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate, a volunteer who serves as a voice for abused and neglected children).
